Raised in Appling, GA and
attended Columbia County public schools graduating from Harlem High
School in 1969
Active member of St. Mark United
Methodist Church
Two children, Brook McGuire and
Brett McGuire, Jr.
Joined the United States Army in 1972,
and he proudly served our Country until 1976
Awarded two Army Commendation medals
during his military service
Received a Bachelor of Business
Administration Degree from Augusta College in 1978
Retired as Plant Manager of Lily
Tulip/Sweetheart Cup Company, and under his management, recognized
as the State of Georgia mid-sized Manufacturer of the Year in 2002
Committed to fostering educational
opportunities, served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for
the Georgia Fund (and presently a Trustee) the State Foundation
serving Georgia’s Technical Colleges, and serves on the Board of
Directors for Augusta Technical College and is a past Chairman of ATC
Was the first Chairman of the Augusta
Metro Chamber of Commerce's "Drugs Don’t Work” program
Has many years of public service,
including his previous service as a Planning Commissioner for
Columbia County
Served as the Chairman of the Board of
the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, and as the Executive
Director for that organization. Also serves as Chairman of the
Sister City Committee for Columbia County
Has volunteered for many non-profit
organizations, holding numerous Board of Director positions: Augusta
Mini Theatre, Safe Homes of Augusta, University Health Care
Foundation, the Augusta Red Cross and the Augusta Chapter of the
American Heart Association |
