Education. McGuire's
advantage.
On Friday, Brett McGuire,
Republican Candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives,
District 117 participated in the Commencement of Augusta Technical College.
As a member of the Board of Directors at ATC, McGuire joined
other Board members, professors, Dean's, college vice
presidents and the college president in awarding degrees to
several hundred students. After the commencement exercise,
McGuire commented "we must continue to improve the
educational opportunities for our families in Columbia,
Lincoln, and Wilkes Counties. We must also educate the voters
on who is the right person to lead and get results on behalf
of education and many other issues that are important to the
citizens of our district". So far, two forums and two
stump meetings have been organized but McGuire's opponent
failed to show up for half of them.
Brett McGuire is now officially challenging his opponent, local
farmer Lee Anderson to a public debate. Now, more than
ever, considering the difficult economic times we're facing,
it is important that the voters educate themselves on who is
the most qualified candidate to represent the district. A
debate gives the voters that opportunity. McGuire added,
"how would my opponent be able to effectively debate the
issues with 179 other House members when he can't
even debate another candidate?"
McGuire feels a debate is
one of the best ways to see and hear the differences between
the candidates, and stated "We're proud of our schools in
educating our children. Let's be proud of our efforts and
responsibility to educate the voters so they can make the
smart choice."
